True, but the preload in the wheel studs uses up at least 60-70% of that strength. Still, that leaves quite a bit, and this type of loading is pretty mild (less than a few g's, assuming the crane operator doesn't jerk the load) compared to what would be considered typical design safety factors for weird side loading,

I'm sorry, but I can't help but think that if I had the money to blow, I would not hesitate - NP. This car would be so awesome to have, despite having the 302 rather than the stock motor...it's a V8 wagon 5spd OMFGWTF!11!! I could see keeping this thing for a long time, and the purchase price not mattering so much. My

That was the first thing I noticed when they showed the replay! I'm almost scared to watch it, especially at full speed. The slo-mo footage makes it look surprisingly mellow, but that is insanely scary. He could've easily gotten an arm or hand wrapped up in rotating components and lost some extremities...

Seriously. That track was worked. Even by the 250 main...that soft dirt wore down to the plywood! It's been a long time since I remember seeing that happen. And it arguably cost Davalos the win.

I love these Supercross posts, but I would like to add that besides the shenanigans and wrecks that provide great entertainment, this season is one of the most exciting in recent history. For sure in the 450 class - 5 different winners in 9 races and a tight points race. And with the new format (2 heats, 2 semis, and

(Someone may have already pointed this out, but with the new Kinja format, I'm not about to expand every flippin "other thread". That has to go away...)

My guess is engineer. We used kips in college, but I don't use them much now. Lots of engineering on large structures uses kips. Millions of pounds gets tedious, when you can at least knock down your typical numbers by 1000 if you go to kips (think kilo-pound).

Now playing

What happened?: In 1976, Canadian daredevil Ken Powers did not jump his rocket-powered Lincoln over the St. Lawrence River, as he had planned. With a $1 million budget, "The Superjump" was set to be one mile long, but it didn't work. It wasn't so much a failure, but rather a lesson for all humanity.

+1, and add some RWD. (can't find where it says FWD/AWD/RWD?? Anyone seen if that's leaked out yet??). It's fantastic-looking, regardless.

Quick fun one we've done:

I feel like that little line is the only thing screwing with my brain on the front page. Probably because it's different than the old version, or when switching to another Gawker site that hasn't switched yet. I feel like the new page is better, with the author under the title rather than on the same line, but I just

Regarding your second bullet point, second section: in the old version, the pop-up window was awesome because it let you still scroll behind it, and only the thread of interest was on top. Some thing with clicking a reply button. A lot of times I'd scroll back up to the article because I wanted to re-reference

Main page: why are the articles separated with white space, and then each title is separated from the lede (or snippet of the article and images) with a line? It's so counter intuitive. Looks like the big bold text goes with whatever article is listed above it:

Totally agree on the pull-down link to other gawker sites (well, among the other things i agree with). Why do I have to scroll all the way back to the top to do the pulldown and switch sites?!

Yeah, the "other groups" is horrible right now, just because of the "view discussion" button. Being able to see the number of stars and comments in that thread is pretty important when scanning which posts are popular, if not popular enough to be in the first main section.

Frozen
(I have two young female children. And knowing that movie makes it a much funnier gif. Trust me. Do you want to build a snowman? Shit, nevermind, you won't get that either.)

Oh man, I just went back to the old version for a few minutes... and it's so much more logical and fast. I can click on notifications and it doesn't start loading a new page, and I can preview the notification content. I'm all for changing the format of it makes things easier, faster, smoother, or more logical. I sure

Ok, one more thing on mobile (maybe desktop too, but right now I'm on mobile): the main page stories are separated by white space, then each headline is big and bold, with its lede below it, seperated by a dotted line. Super confusing. Should be lines between stories, with white space between headline and lede. Right?

I'll reply here, too, hoping others might also: Android, Nexus 4, newest Chrome and Android versions.
Aaaaaaand... I can't upload my screenshot of the chrome info page... Fails to load.

It's at least the same for me on Android, Chrome browser. Phone type shouldn't matter, I'm guessing it's more the browser type & version. The lack of picture previews is pretty horrible compared to the old (pre-tiger) version.
