I aspire to someday look somewhere near as good as Janelle does in the red beret-blonde wig-white crop top-flower embroidered translucent tights-silver boots look.

She’s lucky she didn’t get strangled by her bra while she was floating out in space

No, it doesn’t.

I actually interpreted that as meaning the dark side is rooted in fear, which is a strait up call back to the OT. Luke saw Darth Vader, whom he has been told he must face, and he is terrified. Rey’s fear is that she is alone, that her family is gone and never coming back, or worse, never cared about her to begin with.

Overall I give it a B- to B+, but not an A. The big plot points that will reverberate in future movies were awesome (Rey and Kylo, Kylo and Snoke). But it doesn’t get that A because there was so much unnecessary crap that had me cocking my head and mouthing, “Why?”. A few examples:

This is how I know you’re full of shit. Luke was a whiny bitch throughout his whole story, especially A New Hope.

I thought that was one of the best parts of the film. It was brilliant to have Ren’s version of the story before Luke’s, and Luke’s confession that it was a fleeting moment is a wonderful pedagogic device. He’s explaining to Rey that the dark side of the Force is ever-present. The fact that he triumphed in ROTJ

Space Leia was cool. Nice that she finally gets to utilize her force powers in a way that’s unique.

You must be blind as I made it clear it was only by his actions, not his personality. Vader is stoic and strong... and but he doesn’t really do all that much.

Darth Emo more of a badass than Vader? You shut your filthy cunt mouth

I have many conflicting feelings about this movie. I loved many parts of it, but I can’t help but feel like it would have been a better movie if they had cut out the entirety of the Finn/Rose plot line.

The Last Jedi and Return of the Jedi as very similar in some regards, and I rank them on the same level. Both have moments of awesomeness. Some of the best in the series. But these are damaged by sideplots that don’t work.

Forget Rey and Kylo or Poe and Holdo. Let’s talk Finn. I think he was really underutilized. which bums me out because John Boyega is amazing. His plot line was kind of weak. And I’m not sure how I feel about the love triangle.

I enjoyed it.

I loved it. It completely subverts everything you would expect a Star Wars movie to be, but I enjoyed it. I think it meanders a bit in the middle with the casino planet stuff, that’s my only legit gripe. But all the fakeouts- Rey isn’t from some powerful lineage; Snoke gets taken down immediately; Luke isn’t Godlike-

General Hux has come a long ways from his Academy days.

I think this is her best album yet. It is jaw-droppingly good. I’m calling it, this is the album of the year.

I honestly think this is my favorite Antonoff co-production out of all of his collaborations to date. He really works well with Clark’s inventive arrangements and style.

What awes me about Annie Clark is the way she just is on a roll with each album. Each one represents something new in her forward evolution, and while some of them maybe didn’t work as well for me as others, I just love how she keeps on doing her thing.

Well, this is encouraging to read. She has yet to release a dud album, they just seem to keep getting better and better.
