Nuns are Catholic. There are religious orders in other non catholic traditions..(not many)..Anglicans and Eastern Orthodox, but aren't really referred to as nuns. And yes, in real life, the Archdiocese would intervene. However, this isn't a real town. And clearly Emma isn't that versed on religious order beaurocracy.
