Is Cruz at a shooting range in that picture? Kinda looks like he’s in an open field. Not unlike the open field in which these people are standing, as they demonstrate what Texas considers to be safe gun-handling practices.

I don’t use a shotgun, so pardon my ignorant question, but how is there a danger if the gun is open?

I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I’m going to defend Ted Cruz. The action is open, the gun is unloaded, his finger is nowhere near the trigger and that’s how a lot of people carry an unloaded bird gun. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go shower because I feel dirty.

That is based on the assumption that you can’t see that is is clearly not loaded.
