A/C is a term that have come to associate with cooling, but doesn’t specifically mean that. Logically, true A/C would cool, heat and humidify/dehumidify - as in, ‘conditioning the air’. For all intents, my home’s oil-fired boiler is two things: a hot water maker and an air conditioner, even though it only heats.

Or mfgrs could, I think, come up with an option for us Northerners - a small heating coil (see: blow dryer) that warms the air at the windshield/dash vent that is turned off by a thermal switch when the thermostat opens. Christ, everything else has an option available (inc. variable wipers - the Tacoma I bought in ‘15…
