As a Briton and an Englishman, I have no problem at all with his description, nor with his conflation of “England” and “Britain”, since let’s face it, the era of Empire wasn’t really spearheaded by the Welsh, Scottish or Irish.

Not taking lunch is a HUGE deal on productions that can run into some cost. There’s a reason the meal penalties for not giving the production a lunch break are usually really stiff.
Me think me speak for many, many readers when me say writers who keep this site going in future not really issue, as this is last time me will click on site that me loved for so many years. G/O has destroyed beloved cultural institution — gutting this site akin to bulldozing Sesame Street, and me for one not would be…
Had to work the earnest farewells in somewhere!
***A COMMUNIQUE FOR THE POSTERS KNOWN AS THE COMMENTARIAT***
At the risk of self-indulgence, I’m gonna pop down here for whoever is poking around in the comments section to say that this is my last A.V. Club review. (I believe that’s the case for everyone writing an A.V. Club movie review this week.) This is really more of a farewell-toned piece, ICYMI:
There’s another bit in the interview where Hardy mentions that Theron wanted someone there for protection, and his response was basically saying he thought it was odd because Theron could kick the shit out of him.
“I think Miller has to take some of the blame for setting a call time that he knew his star wasn’t going to make.”
He’s British. Being called a cunt for showing up massively late is the least insulting way she could have berated him.
If Hardy was three hours late on set even though he knew full well what time he was supposed to be there he deserved to be called that and more.
The cares of Ad Execs are besides the point. The cares of *their clients* are the, and their, priority.
Absolutely - producing client-driven, cringe inducing tripe that you know will flop is the worst. There’s nothing more rewarding in the agency world than putting out a concept that people really enjoy.
I work in-house, not for an agency, but we absolutely do care if people hate our ads.
They’re a web company. Their website is the entirety of what they offer. Not handling the load from an expensive ad isn’t a good thing. Not giving credit to the people who designed the ad is another not good thing.
Only a crypto bro would think otherwise.
There was a point in final act of the Last Jedi where I realized that I had no idea what was going to happen next. That’s a feeling I had never felt before with Star Wars, and I haven’t felt it since. Just because of that, TLJ was my favorite SW media since ESB.
So, it’s better for the studios (Amazon in this case) to boost their profit margins and keep more of the money in their shareholders’ pockets?
I consider myself a pretty fair Tolkien fan - grew up with the books, and I’m even named for one of the characters. They’re my favorite book and film series ever, and while I’m no Stephen Colbert, I can recite off a fair bit of history.
I see this response in every single article about the show. Morgan Cooper shot a short film with this concept himself a few years back and posted it online. It got a ton of attention and a lot of positive feedback - Will Smith saw it and loved it as well. That’s why this show is being made.
