As someone who is tremendously indifferent to these MCU films, I have still managed to see most of them over the years and could follow the movie well.

A part of me wonders what does fake mean for a shapeshifting alien slime monster? What would a “realistic” version of that even look like?

Another part sees how it basically looks like a gooey rubber mask and kinda gets it. Why make it look like a prop if you’re not using props?
