That first one is a doozy. The two experts you called in did a good job, but I think they left one particular stone unturned - the idea the girlfriend might have about him as a potential parent. If that woman wants kids, she cannot in good conscience have kids with a guy who think parent-child sexual relationships are

This is me for all horror movies.

I’ll defend the full Pirates trilogy. It’s a mess, but it’s a fun mess throughout.

Uhh what? The world Lovecraft created is far more massive than lizards that don’t care that humans exist.

“I have to wonder what Rian Johnson’s status is at Lucasfilm, given the billion-plus dollars it made in less than a month.”

FTFY

Got a few irons in the gaming fire at the moment. First, I stayed up late last night to finish the final mission of the excellent Invisible, Inc.  I’ve had it on my hard drive for a while and had taken a few stabs at it before, but never really got that into it and didn’t play very deep into the game. In the past week

[Blade Runner 2049] ruined my childhood! There’s no way [Decker] would just have retreated to some isolated [casino] after things went wrong! And [Ryan Gosling] is a Mary Sue who is unrealistically quick in learning how to [...blade run, I guess?]!

There are a lot of people who won’t touch “fake” fiction & stories and all that icky made-up stuff and had to be tricked into it with the claim that it was all a “true story.” Then when they found out they’d read a novel, they were all “Eww! I got some on me!”

That was actually a pretty good book. If they would have just released it as fiction instead of lying about it being a biography.

Luke Skywalker, the only man (in the entire galaxy) who saw the good in Darth Vader (the destroyer of planets and murderer of children), stood over his sleeping, adolescent nephew (who is also the son of his best friend), with lightsaber ignited, fully intent on murdering him...because he saw darkness inside him?

“Now, the real reason is because Johnson doesn’t seem to find Luke’s archetypal hero compelling but was forced to use him by the marketing and TFA’s ending.”

So you can vehemently disagree and it’s normal, but when I do so I’m taking things too personally and getting overly emotional? I’m good, man. But thanks for the attempt at psychoanalysis.

I’ve loved Star Wars for literally my entire conscious life. But I have taste and I understand that art is not fanservice.

Clumsy and obvious analogy time:

Thats because people were expecting a movie about space wizards and got a movie about actually being human.

Dissatisfaction with Luke’s storyline is a complaint I don’t share but that I can most understand. The now-non-canon EU built him up into a ridiculous badass, and even non-EU fans have had 30 years to imagine how powerful and epic Luke has gotten, so to find him as a hermit with an attitude was jarring and, to some,

The Senator from New York City is pretty much required to have a degree of cockiness even when not in a position of power. It’s not quite thumbing his nose at those in power, but very, very close.

That’s what it used to be here and that’s not what has made Trump bizarre.

People who say “white knights” or “value/virtue signaling” are the real chuds with no dates.

Jesus Christ, your post sounds more like a MRA with a an excessive bitterness towards women judging from your comment history - I’m guessing you’re used to quite a bit of rejection from women thus the unhealthy amount of misogynistic attitude towards them?
