That, as I have found to my dismay, is a loaded question. It seems that if you don’t think that nude lady was really her, you are infantilising an adult woman and denying her sexual agency :(

I’m wondering exactly which word needed to be taken out of that in order not to trigger you. I’m guessing either/or “white” and “male”.
Plenty of people doomed the universe. Loki gave up the Space Stone to save Thor, Gamora gave up the Soul Stone to save Nebula, Cap wouldn’t sacrifice Vision to destroy the Mind Stone, and Dr Strange gave up the Time Stone just as Thanos was about to kill Tony.
Well, we see him being petty and childish. And people being unwilling to sacrifice loved ones for the greater good is an ongoing theme of the movie.
I think you’ll really enjoy the first half at least. It goes in some directions that I didn’t expect, but make perfect sense given who these characters are and what they just went through.
(for example, Quill attacking Thanos and dooming the galaxy, which may make sense if you remember his character traits from the GotG movies, but if you haven’t seen them, or like me, saw them so long ago you don’t remember them, it doesn’t make sense)
SPOILER ALERT!
Also, I’d like to categorically state that I have no issues with Maisie Williams doing a nude sex scene. This has nothing to do with my own personal hang-ups. If Williams issues a statement that the ass and side boob were definitely hers, it would make no never mind to me. I’m just pointing out what I saw.
Seriously? Two seconds of side boob and ass are exactly what body doubles are hired for.
It’s a curious feeling, feeling sorry for wealthy and famous Hollywood celebrities because one of the prerequisites of their fame and wealth is having to do stupid shit like this while trying to hide how embarrassed they are.
Also, if we’re going to talk about what the show has done in the past, every actress who has appeared nude (Natalie Dormer, Rose Leslie, the ladies who played Shae and Ros, etc.) has done so in full-frontal, full-body shots. The Walk of Shame scene with Lena Headey only got publicized that way because Headey’s refusal…
Still, when it came time to film the encounter, Williams had to be naked-ish on set, and that was naturally a bit awkward. “In the beginning, everyone was really respectful,” she says. “No one wants to make you feel uncomfortable which kind of makes you feel more uncomfortable, because no one wants to look at…
Hollywood seems to think the only way to show a sexually empowered woman is to have her boldly strip for a man, while the camera shows us what he sees. I think that’s pretty damn male-gazey.
I really, really don’t know why that article is so hard to parse for so many people. Williams chose exactly how naked she was going to be during shooting of that scene. Doesn’t mean she chose how it was shot, or edited, or the fact that a body double was clearly used for the full-body nude shot.
Okay, you’re getting weirdly invested in Maisie Williams’ onscreen nudity, so you do you and I’ll be elsewhere.
I don’t know about “for an actor”, but what I saw could easily have been a strapless bra and yoga pants.
Why is everyone misunderstanding that article? Nothing it says states that the full-body nude figure wasn’t a body double. It should be clear that anytime an actress’ face isn’t in the same shot as her character’s nude body*, the body is a double.
this was not a case of the camera taking on the default male gaze, in my opinion
First of all, calm the fuck down. This is an incredibly stupid thing to get angry on the internet about.
Well, I’ve always thought that feudalism is similar to that. I mean, if you have no way of electing your lord and no way to hold them accountable for the quality of your own life, then the only lord that would appeal to you is a “strong” one. “Strong” meaning the kind of lord who would win wars against other lords and…
