@LittleJon: When the F-35's about as stealthy as a brass band from any angle other than straight ahead, BVR isn't always possible.

That Aussie article isn't the only critical article. The Rand report on the F-35 from 2008 is a bit scathing too. Discussing a simulated encounter with Sukhoi Su-27s, they came out with these beauties:

Thanks for reminding me just how much I miss that show... :(

Autodrome de Montlhéry, perhaps?

I think you've got it all wrong! The "retina" name is just to emphasise how bright the screen is:

@Ben Wojdyla: I think it's a backronym from Ikarosu (イカルス) - the Japanese transliteration of Icarus.

What are the odds everyone will be over the current 3D craze by then?

@serenada: I'd love to see David Tennant in a dark, Nolan-esque villain role. Something tells me it'd work really, really well.

@8-lug Poncho: Oh, you mean the LGMC (Large GM Collider)?

I think they just had it as default for a day to alert users to the fact that the feature was there. They were never really going to abandon their trademark look.

@Peter Shultz: I'd heard of the self-propelled concept before, but I wasn't sure if it would still come under the classification of "solar" sail, due to its not using a solar body for propulsion?

@ebao: Seeing as how the rule of thumb with watches is to treat anything under 50m water resistance as "rain-proof" at best, I'd tend to agree

@Bs Baldwin: As he mentioned, the SSC Ultimate Aero.

@OOglebooze: DEFCONs count down - 5 being normal peacetime, and 1 being expectation of imminent attack.

@xd.Balls: Avogadro took park in the revolution against the King of Sardinia - I reckon he'd be supporting the pirates...
