68 mph seems plenty fast in something that size, especially given the general level of skill evinced by people driving RVs.

That science-nerd-kid can barely handle Mandark; I think science-nerd-MAN will have him bagged and deep-sixed in no time.

I think having to enter your Apple ID every time you change the climate control settings will probably be the breaking point.

It’ll handily out-tow my 1994 Nissan Hardbody, but the payload is the same.

But does it have less blood spatter than Dexter’s lab?

For all the people whose knickers have twisted into knots that threaten to choke the life out of them at the thought of having to merge with freeway traffic in a car so terrifyingly slow that it takes almost 8.5 seconds to get from zero to 60, well...

Gosh, mister - if only that light turned green sometimes!

This is, of course, the correct approach. That, along with video cameras and a nice $2500 fine, might do the trick.

So you want your dumb drivers behind the wheels of faster, more powerful cars? That’s, well... kinda dumb.

Agreed. Car & Driver’s test drive estimated 0-60 at about 8.2 and the quarter-mile in around 16.5; that’s NOT UNUSABLY SLOW.

Agreed. Light track-focused cars don’t need massive hits of low-end torque; they need power that builds in a nice linear fashion and winds out over 7000 rpm. If it’s too slow as-is, stroke the 302 into a 347 and try to complain about 8000 rpm, 2200 pounds, 546 hp at 7,400 rpm, and 435 lb-ft of torque at 5,700 rpm.

I think the wider track of a traditional-width dually is a benefit when towing. Otherwise, I agree 100% with you.

Welcome aboard!

Procharger makes a kit that promises 70% more power with no other mods - 513 horsepower would make this a stoplight terror.

I kind of like it, frankly. And yes, I’m a classless degenerate weirdo, but so be it.

True. I took a rented Tercel up and back down a logging road that a couple 4wd pickups got stuck on.

Because an amble and dead-flat torque plateau that starts under 2000 rpm is a good thing off-road?

Your description of how smooth and cloudlike it is, in touring mode at least, is both appealing and slightly disappointing. Procharger just dropped a kit for the C8 that adds 175 to 225 horsepower; I wonder if that could get it into jarring territory... ;)

Well, yes - and by any metric other than “brand-new high-performance car” a V6 Camry is kinda fast, isn’t it?
