It’s called an adaptation because directors have to change the story to fit the medium. I never mentioned witty dialogue in my original post. But, I too don’t want a Marvel (I love Marvel) quip fest if that’s what you are getting at.

If Taika is still interested in directing Akira in 2 years, I think Warner Bros should wait for him. Besides Taika, I don’t think there are many directors out there that could handle this type of adaptation besides maybe Matt Reeves or Denis Villeneuve.
