I think it says they are remaking Seiken Densetsu 2 not Secret of Mana 2 (which would be Seiken Densetsu 3, the unreleased in the US/EU one)

Besides some battle system similarities I don’t really see the resemblance. Some of the best parts of Chrono Trigger are the fun and light character moments and the colorful visuals. This seems to be very drab and self-serious, which is exactly what modern day SE is all about and why I dislike them now.
