1st Gear: 80% drop in profit still means they are making a profit. I would see this as a pretty good silver lining given the situation. Plenty of others are talking losses.

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother’d had
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye
He was big and bent and gray and old
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: “My name is ‘Sue X Æ A-12!’ How do you do!?
“That Bronco was old. It was also very likely extremely slow, very noisy, and probably handled like an inebriated sorority pledge not yet accustomed to her freshman fifteen”
I owned a 2014 Volt for a year before going to the Bolt. This is NP all day. It drove fine, decent build quality, liquid cooled battery for peace of mind. Even with 40-50 miles of electric range we were able to stay on battery for maybe 75% of all the wife’s running around town.
Well... uh... my wife and I were having some marital issues beforehand and now we’re stuck in the same house together for who-knows-how-long, so... yeah....
I don’t know where your wife did med school and residency, but based on how she described it I can assure you it’s different than where I did mine.
That’s what I assumed. A coworker of mine had two Volts (first then second gen) and I don’t remember ever hearing a peep about battery issues or replacement over the years. I hadn’t even considered it was a maintenance item until this article.
Toyota considers the battery in the Prius a life-of-the-car item. I wouldn’t expect that to be any different here
It should have been branded as the Volt, establishing Volt as the Electric Division of GM. Make them available through all GM stores at a kiosk or a little corner of the showroom floor until there was sufficient demand.
Solid commuter. Solid price.
I always thought the plug in hybrids were the best of both worlds with electric power for your daily (if short) commute, and gas back up for any longer drives. Higher miles, but decent condition, nice price.
CP <<=====|V=====>> NP
If you are looking for a reliable commuter car, this is one. Its pretty reasonably priced especially for the premium trim. Its a great price, but I personally like the looks of the 2nd gen better; that comes at a price. I paid about this much for my commuter car, is this better? Probably!I’d love to have a PHEV.
Assuming the battery situation is as good as the rest of the car appears, NP. 6kk for what appears to be a rust-free, clean, and very efficient DD with 150k is pretty good. Offer 5.5k, split the difference, and stop paying for gas during your commute to work.
If we commuted to work, that is.
Say whaaaat? Where are you getting your information, Gawker?
I work with the CDC and the AZ Dept of Health, that is so fucking far from truth, I question your grasp of reality.
OK GAWKER.......

That’s just not true.
The last couple of cars I have bought have been “just hand me the keys and I’ll see you in a bit”. May sound strange, but after all they have my car sitting there as hostage, so what’s the problem? I do the same thing if I am selling a car.
