Brother?
Brother?
When did microwaves get TV screens in them and where do I get one?
We’re talkin’ mus-cle. Totally natural too!
It’s France, Chris; it’s a marquis showdown.
Yeah, the Guardian has consistently been pretty stellar in their reporting on the dumpster fire and the world’s horrified reaction to it.
Hell yeah I would, I can make Easy Mac with the best of ‘em.
Putin bought him already.
“What an ugly, dumb, weird sequence that was.”
This is the perfect cover for Agent Trump to defect.
No, no, there’ll be none of that. Poor people must suffer for the audacity of poverty.
I used to work at WIC, and word gets around real fast about which places are WIC-friendly or not. The store still makes money from WIC, so they can miss out on all of those formula sales for being classist dickbags.
Ugh, that sounds terrible. What got my wife so upset on that particular time was the fact that she was buying baby formula (which is so expensive) and the asshole cashier made his little remark. Well, we had to get formula because we couldn’t get our son to breastfeed. We went to classes and clinics to try and get him…
I was a grocery store cashier a few years ago and the WIC system here is almost designed to shame people. The benefits come in the form of vouchers and the different classes of items come on separate vouchers. Each voucher (and therefore class of item) had to be rung up as a separate order. People would catch on when…
I managed grocery stores for about 20 years and I could have fixed this issue immediately. The cashier would be fired, and I’d compensate the woman at the register with a gift card or something for having to endure embarrassment that my employee caused. This is completely unacceptable.
Or certain sites like The Root that don’t want you posting there unless you fit a certain demographic. Which I’m fine with but I don’t go anywhere I am not welcome. So, this is the first time I’ve seen this because it’s on a site I frequent, not one that actively wants me to stay away.
Our family was on WIC when we first had our son. I was (and still am) working full-time as a teacher and we still needed (and qualified for) government assistance - which just feels ridiculous. This story is worse than the experiences I had - but we had our share of shaming from grocery clerks.
One clerk in particular…
who is she to stop a stranger’s random act of kindness?
This is one of those proper times to ask to speak with someone’s manager, because this is some bullshit.
Thanks for this. Great explanation. My favorite part:
