Speaking of the leg lamp, I love how the Old Man thinks it's from Italy because of how the outside of the box says "Fragi-lay."

Yeah, I see RTD's years as much more sentimental than Moffat's; both are self-indulgent, though. I still like both versions of Who; I just happen to like Moffat's obsession with blowing our minds a little more than RTD's obsession with breaking our hearts.

Yes, me too! In addition to the War Minister, there's also Missy and her plot with the Daleks. And Gallifrey still to explore.

Oh my God, I totally agree. Floating-Dobby-Jesus-Doctor was a terrible resolution to the excellent "Utopia" and "Sound of Drums."

But he had soup in "Heaven Sent," as well, where it's implied that he made it for himself. (There was no one else in the castle besides the Veil, right?)

I thought there were 12 amazing PC moments just in "Heaven Sent" alone.
And I agree with you that it's a near miracle that SM and the BBC can put this crazy, ridiculous, frustrating, beautiful show together. It's not always good, but it always makes me feel alive.

The chalk board also appears in "Last Christmas," when the Doctor tries to tell Clara, during her dream about her cozy Christmas with Danny, that she's dying and needs to wake up.

I'm not sure I want to see Twelve becoming any more whimsical, though—witty and wry, yes, but not whimsical, because that was very much Eleven's "thing." On another note, I still hope that he'll ditch the sunglasses and go back to the sonic screwdriver. Twelve's eyes and eyebrows are so dynamic, they shouldn't be

I also got the feeling that the writers in S8 wanted to make Twelve more like "Malcolm Tucker as the Doctor," as that was Capaldi's most famous/popular role up to that point. So they dialed the whimsy way back and brought out the Doctor's more impatient, dismissive side. Even though "Listen" was a fantastic episode,

I just hope that Capaldi's own reputation doesn't suffer because of some fans' sourness toward Twelve or Moffat or the writing for some episodes. I've actually enjoyed S8 and S9 immensely (while admitting that some episodes have been bad—but that's true of every series of DW), and Capaldi's talent/charisma is a huge

I know there was a lot that was ridiculous about this episode, but I still liked it. I thought the ending was really scary, and the reveal that this was all a ploy—to get us all to watch the video and be exposed to the electronic signal—helped to clarify that what came before wasn't -supposed- to make sense. It was

LOL!
I just realized, though, that the Doctor jokingly says that he's old enough "to be your Messiah." Jesus was a hybrid, right—part human, part divine? Maybe in the finale, someone is going to sacrifice themselves to save the world/universe—maybe it'll be the Doctor, or more likely, it will be Clara, since there

I'm on Episode 4 and it's AWESOME. Also—for anyone who's seen Ep. 4 and is a Flight of the Conchords fan, am I right, does Murray's office make an appearance here??!!! (Not spoiling anything plot-wise here—it's just that the set looks just like the FOTC set.)
ETA:
I've finished the whole show and love it. Fave eps

I agree—Louis/Randall Park is emerging as the MVP for this season. His character is getting more nuanced writing, while Jessica has seemed more one-note this year. Last year, I was all about Constance Wu getting an Emmy nomination; now I hope Park gets one.

Oooh—they should do a Greg-Josh tap duet like the one Astaire and Kelly did called "The Babbit and the Bromide"

(It's a long clip, but it's worth it!)

Yeah, I didn't like the flippant way Clara talked to Jac about being middle-aged. Even though we're now supposed to see that as the evil Zygon talking, it still seemed like something the human Clara would say, thinking herself clever. So that says something that nowadays I just assume Clara's going to say something

Right—I just don't expect this from a companion, especially one who seemed very likable at first, way back in S7. I think this is what Alasdair was getting at in terms of Clara's uneven characterization preventing him from realizing she was a Zygon until the reveal. But I guess we're supposed to see that she's

Who's the Boom King? I'M the Boom King!

I've been on GB for while (I was even there when it was Outpost Gallifrey), but go now more out of obligation than anything else, as so many posters there have knee-jerk negative reactions to everything Moffat does. They're a little kinder to Capaldi, but all in all, there's a lot of talk about the show being the

I loved the deep discussions between Twelve and Ashildr, as well as all of the little jokes (which made up for some of the groan-inducing big jokes from the hanging scene):
"Humans need to have shared experiences." "I'm regretting sharing this one."
"I'm an undercover constable from Scotland Yard! Do you have Scotland
