Lol, just because they CAN doesn’t mean they SHOULD.
If it hasn’t become profitable to field a women’s team - which is the point of the comment - then it doesn’t matter how much money a corporation has. Throwing away money is never a good thing.

Real Madrid is worth $4.2 billion and had $893 million in revenue last year. Manchester United is worth $3.8 billion and had $795 million in revenue last year. These are two of the three most exorbitantly wealthy cash-printing economic juggernauts in the history of any sport ever. Don’t blame economics for their

Because everything has to be someone else’s fault. This is 2019.

FYI, if they have an accent when they come back or ever say ‘I forget the word in English’, you’re legally allowed to bludgeon them with a hammer.

That was no reckless beaning. That was absolute headhunting.

not knowing shit about baseball should be a suspension from writing about baseball. i’d love to see you try to make a snap decision about what part of the plate a play will be at while running full speed. throwing at someone’s head is dirty and intentional. what marisnick did was neither dirty nor intentional.

This case should be a layup for the Players’ Union

I believe blocking home plate is explicitly against the rules. But for some reason it never gets called out.

Just a couple of weeks ago, you (Deadspin) were bitching incessantly about how Cole Hamels threw too high against Nolan Arenado (he hit him in the arm). But now when they throw at Marisnick’s head, you’re suddenly down with the unwritten rules?

Really surprised that umpire didn’t immediately eject the pitcher. I mean it was obvious retaliation. How fucking clueless is he?  Then again, I think the hit on the catcher was accidental or at least not malicious.

So Marisnick, trying to avoid a collision, hurt Lucroy in what was clearly unintentional.  So the Angels intentionally throw at his head....but the Marisnick is the asshole?  Ok, got it....

Why does this article editorialize in favor of a particularly dangerous plunking?

Yeah, fuck that line.

The unwritten rules of baseball are exhausting and stupid but good on Marisnick for realizing he fucked up and apologizing and taking his medicine.

As someone who greatly overreacted to the home plate collision, throwing at a man’s head is just the worst kind of retribution.

You seem dumb.

He served his suspension and apologized to both Lucroy and Angels fans, and last night he looked like a guy who wants to accept responsibility for what he did and move on.

Concussing the other catcher? That’s a plunking.

Quietly accepting the unwritten rules of baseball is against the unwritten rules of baseball.
