@jbarr: Same here (except I use MS Money). I treat my credit cards as if they were checking accounts and reconcile each transaction at the end of each month. Problems have come up 2 or 3 times in the past, and all it took was a quick letter to the credit card company with a copy of the receipt and the charges were

Having a desire for something similar a while ago, I ripped the [Weather.com] flash weather map off the site using a Firefox plugin, and now I can have fullscreen animated weather maps whenever I want simply by opening the .swf file. I'm sure doing so is in breach of their site terms, but I don't know why more things

@Archnemesis_Goldenhair: & everyone else: Thanks all. Its been so long that I didn't even know that references typically weren't called upon until late in the hiring process. This puts me at ease!

Is there any tactful way of starting to apply for new jobs while using one's current job as the main reference? This was my first job out of college and I have no other references to give, yet they have no idea that I want to find a different job. Thoughts?

@infmom: Our house has oddly small sinks as well; the rubber mats curl on the edges and the hard metal ones never fit all the way to the bottom. The silicone mat seems doable, though without any drainage path on the underside I could imagine them getting grody pretty fast.

Could the same be applied to beer bottles? I drink a lot more beer than I do wine. Like, a 1:0 ratio.

@Swimatm: I hadn't heard of the sport-pilot thing, but it sounds right up my alley! I found an account of a Popular Mechanics writer who did it in one week! [www.popularmechanics.com]

Has anyone ever taken or gone through private pilot training? Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to learn how to fly, but we all know how "when I was a little kid" things work out. Now that I'm older and have some relatively disposable income, I'd like to do something to spice up my otherwise mundane day-to-day

A guy I know designed an air motor and put it in a Porche. Hasn't yet put a transmission in, so just a video of what's under the hood. Same idea as the bike I suppose.

Another ice & auto related tip: My car doors always had the problem of getting frozen solid shut multiple times every winter. Not the lock or the latch, but the actual seal around the door would freeze solid making both doors impossible to open (True story: I once had to climb through the trunk of my 2-door Cavalier

Instead of a disposable bottle, I'm a huge fan of the well-designed, cheap and sturdy Thermos Intak water bottle: [www.amazon.com] which have a carabiner-friendly loop on the top. I don't use it this way (if attached to my belt I think the weight would pull my pants down), but I think it would be great for attaching

@mapman007: Yeah, for the infected OS the best solution is a fresh format and reinstall. Remove the head or destroy the brain, as they say.

@timh78: I set up my WinXP system nearly the same (6gb 1st partition on non-system drive with 4gb min-max pagefile), but I also read that I should keep a small pagefile located on the system drive (like, 16MB) because this is where it points the system to the external pagefile? That sounded wacky to me at first but I

@relyk5: Yup, seems to have gone smoothly! Though, I suppose not a bug, but one heck of an annoyance, none of my add-ons are available that are compatible with v3.0! I'm going to miss my add ons.

@relyk5: Any notes, trials or tribulations to forewarn about for upgrading from v2 to v3? I use it here at work and remember bugginess going between v1.5 to v2, losing some emails in the process. Either way, I'll be upgrading I guess.

@Leandro Koiti Sato: Yeah, more explainey please. Also, this means I really need to upgrade my Mini9 to 9.10 already if this is indeed a feature.

@MrThunderfield: Me too, and I just added a few sections yesterday. I thought about setting it up like in this workspace, almost like an actual office where I could have chairs on the other side of the L for "meetings." I have it in the corner instead, facing the wall, which tends to open up the room more.
