AutoPatcher saved my ass last week, I was sad to hear they got shut down by Microsoft. When LH first introduced AutoPatcher I downloaded and archived the latest update files, because my home computer running XP hadn't been online or updated since college in 2004. This past week we finally got DSL and I wasn't looking

So iPod touchers have to pay $20 for the 1.1.3 upgrade? Or is the apps package a separate... package? If not, then what happens when 1.1.4 rolls out for those who didn't pay the toll? Are we to be stuck in 1.1.2 forever?

Call me stupid (Hi, Stupid!) but I can't figure out how to bookmark the bookmarklet with my iPod Touch. Is there some wacky click+drag+flip motion I'm not familiar with, or am I just missing the point completely?

@FullFlava: I was expecting the same comments, cuz thats the first thing I thought of. I guess I'm reading too much Gizmodo.

@busybyeski: Thats a bit of a pickle you're in! I honestly don't know. Perhaps there is some other hidden shortcut for cycling though search engines? Or maybe there is a way through the [userChrome.css] file to hide everything in the Quick Search bar except for the search engine dropdown, so you can access it?

@Klitaka: Yes, ALT+Click in Firefox on a Windows machine will download any link. Far easier then dragging the link to an icon, in my opinion. I hate that Safari has no equivalent, and yet another reason why I'll never switch from my Firefox.

@SomeAudioGuy: I was referring to the S40,S50,S60,etc line of Canon cameras that are now discontinued. The S2-IS, and the current S5-IS, are awesome cameras, you have my envy! When I get sick of my S60 I'll probably get one, or a G series!

I use MozBackup for backing up everything in my Thunderbird. I had to recover some lost emails at one point and the process was relatively painless. But whatever you use, backing up email is very important and often overlooked. I do it as a favor for members of my family and friends who aren't so diligent!

I love Launchy! I've nearly got an Icon Free desktop thanks to it, which makes it fun when anybody else tries to use my workstation and are like "Where the hell is everything?"

@unique172: Good riddance I say! I should have worded my remark that one of the ONLY features I like on my Canon S60 is the Intervalometer. The lens, apparently one of the most important parts of a camera, is really a crummy "wide angle" with a lot of purple fringe and blurry edge problems. I think this left a bad

My first time lapse was of a Lunar Eclipse back in December 2004, I made a flash animation and put it up on my DeviantArt account here: [lastvigilante.deviantart.com]

@LastVigilante: OoOooh! I just enabled both ChromaTabs AND Aging Tabs to find that they work very well together! It makes for a very interesting effect where the ChromaTab color fades to the Aging Tab color, and it alleviates any issues I previously mentioned above! I lik-a alot!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Word (ew!) sort things alphabetically? Under "Table > Sort..." This is what I've always used for quick and dirty alphabetizations, no need to ever touch Excel.

I installed this because I stopped paying attention to my Aging Tabs. I like using the random color because many sites still don't have favicons which gives them a plain gray tab.

@LastVigilante: Actually, upon closer inspection, the videos didn't play so hot on my iPod, in fact, not at all. They required an additional, slow 'Convert Video For iPod' from within iTunes. I also noticed that whatever compression they are using causes quite a bit of ghosting in the videos. Not a big deal for that

This works surprisingly well! This morning I did 3 YouTube videos to an iPod video format, the "conversion" took about 5-10 minutes in my browser, then I got an email within 30 minutes directing me to the download links! I just now added the videos to iTunes, then my iPod and they work great! Now all I have to try is

@mwinslett: The three colleges I last attended all used my SSN as my student ID, which were in 2001, 2004, and in early 2006. I'm not sure if they recently changed that due to any laws. My girlfriend just graduated grad school last summer and my sister is still in school, so I'll ask them if they still use their SSNs.

The biggest problem with SSNs has to be with schools and universities, who by default all seem to use student's SSN numbers as school ID numbers. This is all despite it saying right on the back of every Social Security Card "This number is not to be used as a form of identifiction"! From my memory, most, if not all,

On more than one occasion I have wished that Windows had some sort of Ctrl+Shift+T function like Firefox. In fact, I'm pretty sure after accidentally closing an application I've actually hit Ctrl+Shift+T in a desperate effort to bring it back!

What I'm most interested in is getting rid of that "on behalf of soandso@gmail.com" message on outgoing emails. Does the "Standard" free edition of Google Apps do this for me, or is this only on the "Premier" pay edition?
