I am more and more convinced that I will not be needing cable TV when I move out into my first apartment. Thats $50 a month I can save and put towards renting a nicer apartment! Sweet. Sweet indeed.

My first thought was "So, what marketing lists do they add your phone number to?" but, after reviewing the privacy policy, this seems pretty solid. At least as solid as using Jott. It may be worth a try, especially since I've become immune to my clock radio alarm.

I'm quite positive there is a large group of nincompoops out there who still use the AOL software as their sole internet experience. Just like the 60% or so of the internet viewing public still using IE6. Exhibit A: My boss still has and uses the AOL software on 4 of the 6 machines in our office, 2 PCs and 2 Macs are

Wuahh! I'm trying this out now and it is madness! And for some reason I'm feeling quite a substantial amount of strain in my left arm, which probably says more about my desk at work and it's poor ergonomics than anything.

I currently live at home with my dad who still has dial-up, so technically I'm currently living without both. I have become George Costanza.

@LastVigilante: This is what I get for posting a comment before doing some research. I found on Wikipedia information about what I was referring to, apparantly called Traffic Light Preemption. It is also linked to from the Traffic Signal article. The signals are controlled by radio, or even, more interestingly, by

I'd be more interested in finding out how those Emergency Vehicle stoplight switches work. You know, the little white lights on the top of some traffic poles that blink on-and-off if an emergency vehicle is moving in your direction of traffic, or turns on steady if one is coming perpendicular with cross traffic? Once

@zolielo: Indeed. Though, actually you only have to click once to get into mouse control, no need to hold the mouse button. Then simply click again to return to keyboard control.

Thats it, thats the last straw. I am now refocusing my apartment search to areas where I am not forced to use Comcast. Various locations in Chicagoland offer WOW (unfortunately, sparse locations) but its worth not having to deal with Comcast's rising prices, poor service and, now, restrictive network. I just hope that

Revo Uninstaller was a tad rough around the edges (complete with Engrish style and misspelled dialog boxes), but I will say that it successfully got rid of a few programs from my machine that had gotten corrupted and were un-uninstallable* with Windows Add/Remove Programs. This was a glorious relief for me and I would

@DarkShikari: Thanks, Cinelarra looks pretty sweet, almost too sweet for your average home user. I'd try it out, but I'm afraid I've come down with a rather severe case of Linux-less computing. Yet another reason for me to get off my arse and try Ubuntu.

@Michael Bauser: My Motorola came with that prepaid envelope too. Thats a pretty good idea on their part, and one other thing that will probably lead me towards choosing Motorola again in the future.

Has anybody used this WAX program? I've been looking for a suitable replacement to Windows Movie Maker because I'm fed up with only being able to export blurry WMV files. Obviously, as any good LifeHacker, I've been searching among OpenSource/Free software, but have come up rather empty lately.

I'm plannin on building a PC for myself in the next few months and am seriously considering a Linux/Ubuntu platform, or at least a dual-boot setup. I am also a graphic/web designer. I have yet to try out the array of open-source graphics/creative software, let alone try them out in Linux, but am curious to see if

I noticed that Stealther hides/deletes everything except the "Recently Closed Tabs" list found in the History dropdown.

This could be useful for my keyboard at work that conveniently has no method of indicating if Caps-Lock is enabled or not. Kudos to HP for that stroke of genius.

Does this also stop Macs from creating the annoying "._filename.jpg" files on network drives?

I have a Motorola v323i from US Cellular, and, using my digital camera's USB cord and BitPim, I can copy photos to my PC. Unfortunately it cannot do the same for my address book, calendar or ringtones.

As a web designer I'm quite embarrassed to say I haven't heard of FileZilla before! I guess this could've saved my boss the $75 he spent on buying WS_FTP for my workstation... but FileZilla will definitely be my first choice for personal FTPing.
