Guardians of the Galaxy was sort of janky to play, but the writing and voice acting was a non-stop delight. I'm glad I played it on easy mode or I likely would have quit.

I’m saving Legendary for when coop comes out (next year). Also, 343- Firefight mode, please!!!!!

Apparently you haven’t played too many Kojima games.

The ranking system being discussed is the battle pass ranking, which is just a collection of xp for cosmetic unlocks. It still has a traditional ranking system in place, with its own ranked matches playlist. The ranked gameplay is sorted similar to how League of Legends and Overwatch do rankings. You have 6 divisions:

Why are you putting up the PS5 as the gatekeeper of Invested Sweaty Gamerhood?

Idk who to reply to in this thread but I work at a small game studio and work with the people who hire.
We have done rounds of hiring and kept positions open for months, often having no women applying. Our company tries to be proactive about it too.

We have ~50 employees. Around 10ish are women?
something like Zero

There’s objectively less women than men within this field, though. The problem isn’t that women aren’t being hired anymore, it’s that there aren’t enough decent female candidates to hire

Did you ever play a blizzard game ?

I’m a woman, and I’ll weigh in.

But there just aren’t many women people who are so into gaming right now that they’ve set their mind to getting a PS5 from scalpers, or constantly refreshing store websites to see if any are available again. It’s just not something they’re into, which is fine.

I’m female and don’t have a PS5 for various reasons, including that they’re ridiculously expensive and hard to find, I already have a relatively new gaming PC, and I’m totally okay with missing out on exclusives since there’s so much on Steam I haven’t played yet. Probably the same reasons a lot of men don’t have one.

It’s almost as if you’re saying great efforts have to be made to recruit women because it won’t just happen by itself, which is kind of the point underlying this article?

Dude come on.

Are you serious? Only 30% of the game industry are women. Then if you break down to coders, which is what a small indi team is going to be comprised of, that percent goes down to 20% in all coding development fields let alone game development. The statistics and facts don’t support your equity complaint given the size

This is some amazing Editorial judgement right here. Right up there with tidying your desk on the “I feel really good about what I did at work today.”.

Did you seriously feel a need to write this article? Why? Whether a small development studio is all male or all female or what-have-you does not matter. Your statement of, “So, presumably, the founder had met at least a couple of women who were skilled enough to work at one of the highest-profile video game companies

This is absolutely despicable, and really shows how little you know about how start ups work.

“Simply didn’t hire them” or maybe...those women simply didn’t want to work there and chose of their own ~individual~ volition? It’s like those women aren’t even people, the way you write about them, they’re just pawns to

Jeez...it’s a freaking startup, can you just give him some slack.

“I’m a nice guy.”
“Do you know who I am?”
“I’m brutally honest.”
“You’ll change your mind.”
“Because I can.”
Anything having to do with being an “alpha”
“You’re so sensitive.”
“You’ve just lost a customer.”
“I tell it like it is.”
“Sorry, I can’t help it, I’m a [insert zodiac sign].”
“Don’t give me excuses.”
“I’m just asking
