I've used goo.gl, bit.ly, and a few others in the past. My current favorite is a [bit.ly] variant: j.mp. I generally don't care about the shortening as much as the ability to customize the url.

This might also be hampering sending email in the K-9 email app. It was fine one minute, then started erroring out, throwing a javascript exception the next. May be totally unrelated, but perhaps worthy of note?

I have the Google Chat option selected, but it doesn't ring to the Google Talk application. It will ring to the phone integrated inside gmail, though.
