There is a big difference between taking 9 years to get a doctorate and 9 years to get a Bachelor's.

I knew someone who took 9 years to finish their degree because he wanted to party the whole time. Should we forgive all his loans because he was more interested in partying than getting an education?

I agree, but then it raises the question of do people that take more than 4 years to receive their degree get more debt relief than those who took only 4 years?

As much upside there is to this, I still have to wonder how many teenagers who go to college only to party would take advantage of it. I went to a known “party school” where over 50% of freshmen failed out. Are they going to have student debt?
