I thought pretty much all cars ran without a battery. I drove my 2000 Ranger for a week sans battery because a friend stole it for his boat. Just had to get a jump every time I wanted to go somewhere.

You’re changing the discussion. In your original post you implied EV manufacturers were going to fail unless they could sell a car for less than 40k WITHOUT incentives (nut-job all caps yours). Now you are talking about if we should be incentivizing EVs. Those are two completely different things.
