I’m 30 and never watched it as a kid, but I saw it for the first time last year and thought it was extremely overrated and very very boring. I didn’t outright hate it, and I could see how someone could have some nostalgia for it if they watched it multiple times every October as a kid, but I have no desire whatsoever

Or you didn't audition, I suppose.

But why? Why go up there and wear a fat suit to play a 400-lb. queer man?”

If you didn’t get the role, it’s because you can’t act.

Representation is important. However, this particular argument seems asinine. The character in The Whale is supposed to be 600lbs. Unless they found a 600 lb actor, this role was always going to be a “fat suit” role. This guy, as much as I loved him in Mean Girls, doesn’t look like he’s that much more “obese” than

eh.The director specifically wanted him.Not sure how much auditioning there was in the first place.

Progressive idealism is now outlawing the acting profession. Henceforth, you will only be considered for parts that match your identity 100% completely. Unfortunately this means no more superhero, science fiction, fantasy, or, hell, any fiction at all will be allowed. But at least our ‘content’ will be purely

Fact, the Creature of the Black Lagoon didn’t live in a lagoon nor was he actually a creature. He did do all his own swimming though.

I’m sure he does “know more.”

He’s conflating representation and talent. Everyone deserves the former, he’s never demonstrated the latter.

Money talks, thats the essence here. Not your BS.

Who cares

Haha. So money talks even louder than your “holier than thou” attitude. Hypocricy at its best! She gives a great example to her fanboys.

As a former marketing bastard, this things reeks of a massive PR campaign - no, not to promote this particular, this film is merely a part of it. It sounds like the campaign is to rebrand Wilde as not just some nerdbait/TV actor as a genuine “auteur”, a director, dramaturgist, and thespian.

Thanks to all the butthurt wokesters for replying and making mine the top comment. Much love. ✌🏻

First things first: this isn’t a reason to send her back to jail and I will never understand America’s obsession with incarceration, especially for non-violent offenders that don’t pose any kind of threat.

Bye, Felicia. Two time losers don’t get third chances.

This took less than ten seconds to find. Please note that “associating with known criminals” is on the list.

Cool allegation. Does she have receipts? How about any specifics at all? Oh, just an unnamed production crew member? Well that’s conveniently vague.

Well that's shitty if not unexpected. Really should be a step in between parole figuring your room mates are creating a situation where through no action of the parody, is in violation and just go back to prison.
