I get your joke, but as a person on the spectrum that has to deal with middle management daily in just being me, consistently labeled as “superior at my job but disconnected from other people’s experiences”

What if someone has been loudly criticizing him as an overrated hack all along, before these allegations became public, when he was inexplicably revered as a screenwriting god despite being so far up his own ass that his words were his farts?
Whomever.
Conversely, he actually never was a very good creator, in reality. He was a sub-par Warren Ellis, at best, and that guy turned out to be a piece of shit, as well.
Thank you so much for posting this. I feel like the “his work wasn’t really that great” responses fall into two categories:
I’ve been saying for years that the legend of Firefly is waaaaaay better than the reality of Firefly, a show that ran for 14 episodes and got itself into consistency and writing issues during that time. Same for Dollhouse - High concept, flawed execution, especially in comparison to its peers (looking longingly at…
In fairness the man was apparently hung like a horse and clearly wanted the world to be aware of this fact.

I always push that to the furthest extreme, politics. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was one of the most important laws of the 20th century. The president who pushed for it used to take his dick out and smack people with it. Just because LBJ was abusive doesn’t me that the law wasn’t good.
I mean, yes and also it’s larger than that?
Part of it is the misfortune of releasing the film after almost 2 years of COVID, but it really hurts the film that all of the “satire” is essentially just depicting events that have already more or less happened.
Although Frederick Douglas made the wise decision not to take part in the raid (Brown had wanted him to join).
Friendly Fire
That’s true!
