Another option - get pipe insulation - it's super cheap, a couple bucks for eight feet and wrap it around the handle, then tape it to secure it. Makes a thicker grip if that's your preference and when/if it gets cracked or skanked up, just replace it - pipe insulation is so cheap it's rarely a problem.
Dear Homerjay - I owe ya one. I have been going nuts with bug bites all over my feet and legs from extra heavy hiking-ish adventures this summer.
