This show is set in western Pennsylvania. In one scene you can briefly see a highway marker in the shape of a keystone, like all state highways. There's an actual state route 99 that runs south from Erie. Also: the Rustys' white-and-gold football uniforms seem like a reference to the Steelers' black-and-gold uniforms.

If someone does that to his teleprompter, that would be poetic justice.
