It makes zero sense why anyone involved with the production honestly still believes the stunt of “trying out” hosts publicly is meaningful. It was a stunt, and a very good one, but trying to front like it was an actual meritorious analysis of potential talent is like pro wrestling promoters forgetting their storylines…
