It was fan service, but a good kind of fan service. And it was earned.

I don’t think “one movie per year” was wild over-saturation of the market. I do think that deciding on “one movie per year” hell-or-high-water and giving writers roughly a week and a half to slap a script together like a Sophomore cramming for finals between whippits for your FOUR BILLION DOLLAR FRANCHISE was fucking n

Oh goodness…there were what, two good movies, and the rest were various shades of mediocre or bad?

Precisely. Fun characters can forgive a lot of questionable plot logic.

Luke was the glaringly obvious choice to take Grogu and train him. It makes absolute and total sense.

Nobody thought they’d actually do it though. But it’s not shoehorned fan service.

The Mandalorian continues the stories set up by Dave Filoni in The Clone Wars (non-Genndy Tartakovsky edition) & Rebels. Disney didn’t purge those from canon when it bought Lucasfilm. So why didn’t it have him & Jon Favreau head up the writing for the sequel trilogy? They actually had a plan for their stories! The

Wasn’t there already a metric ton of books, comics, etc, that filled in “the mystery gaps” before the House of Mouse took over?

Menage a trilogy. Any way you look, you’re getting fucked.

Yeah, I was just thinking that when I saw the headline. The problem was that they made JJ “mystery box” Abrams the director of the first movie.

I was blissfully ignorant if this bullshít til avclub and kotaku chose to share the barely relevant inanity. Thanks guys, I feel a shade dumber because of this, a degree more misanthropic for sure.

God there is definitely a photo of me in jean shorts and a Spin Doctors t-shirt out there somewhere...

The internet was a mistake

blessed is GenX, for we lived the full idiocy of our youth with no video evidence to haunt us...

So like I’ve never heard of this story and you’re not willing to say WHY he’s a scumbag so I’m just assuming by the name that there’s either one of three factors as to why he’s called that.

Remember the band Ratt?

Ratt plays at the concert venue a town over once a year or so.

I get where you’re coming from and have the same gut reaction - the ending tips the scales from two not great people behaving poorly (Robert perhaps marginally worse) to Robert clearly being a villain.

The obvious hook is to turn it into not only an adaption of the story, but make it also yet another remake of Cat People. The whole reason the guy wants to date the woman is that he is a werewolf-like cat person who needs to mate with another cat person and although she doesn’t know it, the woman is a cat person too.

I’m glad that Headland and Fillioni were clearly Star Wars nerds as kids.

Disney isn’t going to let anything “political” actually happen, but I appreciated her responses all the same.

This is the first I’ve heard of this but the interview and Russian Doll has me excited to see how it turns out.
