I started watching when I accidentally clicked “OK” one time too many on my Roku remote, and this started playing as what was being featured on Netflix that day. As a 42-year-old guy, I suspect I’m pretty far from the target audience for this, but I thought it was pretty bad and could only make it through maybe 2.5

This isn’t directly related, but I’m not sure where else to put it. I’m working my way through Clone Wars now and recently rewatched the prequels. In the course of that viewing, I’m convinced we need a Yoda-in-his-prime series (cartoon or live action). We’re told repeatedly how wise and powerful Yoda is, but I don’t

I didn’t want to put this on any social media accounts under my own, because I think it’s right for professors to mock their students on venues that might filter back to said students, but I had to share this line from a student term paper somewhere: “Aristotle’s thought of the idea of unhappiness led many at the time

Since I have a few more months on my free Disney+ trial, I’ve been watching the Clone Wars cartoon, which is pretty decent, but not really the point of this post. Watching it made me want to re-watch the prequel trilogy, since I had pretty much no recollection of what happened in Attack of the Clones. I don’t know if

I feel like the show has one or two plot wrinkles too many. I’m still not totally clear on what the Flag Smashers’ deal is, or why we needed Sharon as, presumably, the Power Broker.

I wouldn’t be quite that harsh, but I agree with the overall assessment that none of the guest hosts outside of Richards seem like a great fit.

Yes, that’s my hope. She can be a new tenure-track professor trying to find a big research win to gain respect in a male-dominated field (this would have to take place in the 50s/60s, right?). Indiana can be the surly old emeritus professor who grudgingly gets talked into mentoring her and has one last adventure while

Yeah, I would not be opposed to them just building up the universe created by the Mandolorian on Disney+ leading into another set of sequel movies that retcon the last ones out of existence. They could open with Luke waking up and telling Grogu about this annoying dream he had about an emo student who turned evil and

Yeah, and the Mandolorian opened up the possibility of exploring Luke’s adventures after Return of the Jedi and before his self imposed exile on that island (I forget the name). Specifically, what did he do with poor Grogu so that Grogu is not a factor in the sequel trilogy?

I really liked Dark starting out, but I couldn’t finish the 3rd season. I felt like it just got too far up its own ass with the time travel twists and turns. I’ll probably give it another shot soon though, as my list of new shows to watch is just about zero at this point.

I like the line from Moby Dick: “In man or fish, wriggling is a sign of inferiority.”

Yep. That’s my position too. I share my account with my mom and in-laws, who are all retired with limited income. There’s not much I watch on Netflix anymore, but I know they all use it a fair bit, so I keep it more for them. If Netflix cracks down on that extended usage, I wouldn’t have a problem dropping it.

I agree with the B grade. I liked a lot of the character beats in the episode, but I’m disappointed such a creative show ended at least in part with another fight with the protagonist and the big bad throwing CGI blobs of energy at each other.

I watched season 1 of the Korean zombie show, Kingdom, and thought it was pretty good. It combines the usual feudal Chinese/Japanese/Korean plotting regarding a succession but combines it with zombies. I won’t spoil anything, but I thought the explanation for the zombie outbreak here was actually quite plausible

Yeah, she still keeps referencing her husband, “Ralph.” There’s a chance that’s just sitcom schtick, but I think he could be the big(ger) bad behind everything, who will have a larger role as this phase of the MCU unfolds.

I agree that there’s some malevolent figure at least partly responsible for all this. I think it’s just too dark for Disney to go full Legion and have Wanda straight up be the villain. There has to be some redemption/explanation for her coming up that would allow her back onto the good guy team for upcoming Marvel

I agree. I’m one of those people who really digs the sitcom conceit (and I know that others don’t), but I’m not sure how you could keep that up past one season, and once the show ditches that, it would lose a lot of its appeal as a quirky outlier in the larger MCU.

I’m not super worried about consistency across all of the movies, live-action shows, and animated shows in the Star Wars universe, but I do think Luke coming to get Grogu raises the question of why Grogu isn’t mentioned in the sequel trilogy. Presumably, a Yoda-strength Jedi trained by Luke would be a game-changer in

I didn’t want to get Disney+, but we got a year for free when we moved and signed up for Verizon Fios, so I figured I would create an account to at least check out The Mandalorian. I thought The Mandalorian was totally fine, but not necessarily worth the hype or worth keeping Disney+ for on its own. But if the Marvel

Yeah, I was firmly not into this sort of postmodern literature, but then I got into David Foster Wallace and read all of his fiction. At that point, I was looking for more of something similar, and White Noise was recommended. But I didn’t really like it. Maybe I’ll check out Libra.
