It’s the hyper-defensive DON’T TALK ABOUT CASEY’S PAST SHENANIGANS!!!!(very Pythonesque DON’T MENTION THE WAR! kinda stuff) shielding from other men in his field that I find gross. He did some shit, it’s relevant to people giving him side eye (what exactly has he done to change his ways? Except not get caught

I don’t know what you stupid thing you did when you were drunk, but the allegations sound serious and not like some stupid thing everyone does when they’re intoxicated and not thinking as they should be. He apparently violently grabbed a woman when she refused to stay with him in a hotel room, tried to lock her out of

I hear you, but my feeling is — people are entitled to dislike you for bad things that you did and people are entitled to remember bad things that you did in the past and cite them as examples when making social commentary (which it seems happened here).

So his argument boils down to, “Don’t take the word of a woman unless there’s hard evidence backing it and it leads to a conviction—if there’s any doubt at all, the man is always right.”

The “cows” comment is shitty, but it’s not sexual abuse. He grabbed the woman in a hostile manner when she wouldn’t sleep with him, and he directed a member of the crew to expose himself to her. It’s not just hostile workplace stuff, the guy fully crossed over into intimidation and battery in both cases.

the fundamental precept that an allegation is not an indictment

If Casey Affleck can’t feel safe reading college newspapers, where can he feel safe?

If there is any silver lining to Trump, it’s that he’s basically put a spotlight on human rights violations in our country. It’s important to recognize this happened under Obama but not to let anyone use that as an excuse for it to continue though.

That’s because the 13th amendment specifies that it’s fine to enslave convicts. Slavery is still illegal here, under certain circumstances, but being an undocumented immigrant isn’t one of them. The legal problem here isn’t that these people are being enslaved, it’s that they’re being enslaved despite not having been

JFC I haaaaaaaate when people deny their own racist tendencies just because they live in a ‘progressive’ city. I moved from Dallas to Seattle 5 years ago. I am a Hispanic woman. I have gotten many, many more racist comments in Seattle than I ever did in Dallas. I get it, Seattle is white as fuck, and I’m used to being

Just a reminder that people who are being held in immigration detention centers are not being punished for crimes, but these centers are nonetheless run very much like prisons. I think the operators may not always understand the Constitutional significance of the fact that these people are not criminal prisoners.

Washington, and the entire Northwest, is extremely racist, and I am forever frustrated when people act like it’s some sort of “liberal enclave” where these things “just don’t happen.

But in all fairness a hate crime isn’t limited to racial discrimination...could involve race, religion, sexual orientation, trump-worship, etc

Senator Blanche Devereaux 😂😂😂

Guaranteed he has had sex with drunk women who cannot consent. This is 100% fact. He says drunk women can consent because if they can’t, then he has to accept he is a rapist.

Bernie’s left the party already, though.

My wife and I wake up every morning in hopes of finding the pee-pee tapes splashed across the internet.

I swear I wake up every morning waiting for the final domino to fall in this atrocious presidency. Then I call my senators (who don’t answer of course) sign 25 petitions that feel totally futile, and refresh my web pages incessantly until it’s time to drink myself into a stupor, fall asleep and do it all again the
