They haven’t started selling the 2017 Ford GT. The old one was sold in extremely limited volumes. They were intentionally much rarer than a Ferrari or Porsche (except for the LaFerrari or 918).

I came here to post FSAE car. Totally agree. Looking forward to seeing you guys at Michigan.
As good as that square inset grille looks... there’s a reason we haven’t used that design cue since the 1970s. Way too unaerodynamic.
Agreed. At least it will be interesting.
Or that’s why google will destroy the “traditional” automakers... because they don’t have the limitations of supposed facts.
I think the production version looks better. It’s elegant.
Maybe it’s just me but the styling looks seriously Model S to me.
And that’s supposed to fit 2 people
Cool. See you at Michigan.
We’ve only ever done Michigan before but we signed up for Lincoln this year too. We’d love to do an international competition some time but aren’t really good enough yet to justify that expense. We are about 6 hrs from Michigan as well but to the south and west. I go to Rose-Hulman. Where do you go?
Our CFD has been decently accurate so far. And, Thanks. Good luck to your team too. Will you be at Michigan or Lincoln?
That was roughly the fastest our car ever reached without aero. We won’t hit it with aero on the car because the straight isn’t long enough now that we have that extra drag. We need to do more analysis we don’t have a good simulation of the dynamics of our car yet. We are just doing physical track testing right now.…
Yea... nope. GFR and a bunch of the other teams were much faster in the corners... Michigan didn’t seem to have the suspension setup right for that car.
Great looking car.
It’s fairly easy to get the amount of downforce you need to justify aerodynamics. The effect on cost report for our car was pretty insignificant... about 1000 dollars. We would have lost something like 10 pts with that. Fuel economy is fairly insignificant Only a few points there. Accel we lose another 10 pts or so.…
If the team can prove that drag effectively doesn’t matter to them... Teams with 4-cyl engines come to mind ... then they won’t lose points in design. It’s all about justification. (With the current aero package we have and ~80 HP our car can hit 110 mph before it is drag limited. Which is way faster than the course…
I was at Formula SAE Michigan when they competed with that thing. My god it was the ugliest car there... and not particularly fast either. Thankfully last years car was much better.
2006 Volvo S60R. Great cruiser (I own the tamer version and it loves 75). The best seats you will ever sit in. S60R so when it gets twisty you can have fun too. This one is 10 grand but you can find nicer (manual) ones for a little more. http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/…
I really don’t want to think about crashing a ceramic car at any speed... can you imagine what kinda mess that would make? (Norma aluminum has about 13 times the resistance to fracture as Alon)
