I am very, very lucky that I work in a Malcolm Tucker-vocabulary-accepting place.

My most hated thing that I see a lot recently is "covers", as in, "appears on the cover of" ("La Patrona covers Vogue", etc) — it's so bloody fake-jargon-y, it makes me want to throw magazines at walls.

Ha, I just shuddered at the thought of that — I made my own invitations, and therefore NEVER WANT TO SEE THEM AGAIN.

I give wedding gifts because I've never had to spend any money on attending a wedding (because I don't have money to spare for that); but yep, if it was costing me hundreds of pounds just to be there then I wouldn't have any left over for a present.

Our wedding was relatively really cheap, but it still freaked me out very badly to be spending that much money.

I'm totally in love with the amazing book ends that two (unrelated) friends chose of our registry for us, and I'm very excited to toast my sister and brother in law with the glasses and cocktail kit they got us once we can start using it. But apart from that, we were delighted to get loads of cash (well, loads by our

That happened to me — I wasn't going to do a registry (they're not as common yet in my land) but my husband's American and has a massive family who were all demanding our registry to be open immediately so they could get us engagement gifts, let alone wedding presents (and UK registries apparently don't open until the

Ha, that's what I was like with ours. The registry was full of stuff that wasn't very exciting, BUT it was all useful (we were both moving across the world so we had absolutely no household belongings).

Ahaha!

Yeah, I feel like banning "fuck ____" is just wretched, because surely people should be allowed to passive-agressively protest something, right? It's not like it's "rude", per se.

My entire home county, #Essex, is banned! (Might not be a bad thing…)

Are they just blocking anything with "sex" in, Scunthorpe Problem style? I'm intrigued as to why #beautyandessex would be banned…

That's so odd — this is the second time I've had someone mention Chris Evans today, after about a decade of forgetting he existed!

I have to confess that on occasion I can't understand a Liverpudlian accent, either ;)

I sold wedding presents, not because I didn't like them (I loved them) but because we needed money and didn't have much else to sell. I hated it, but we are so broke.

Oh, I don't think I'm being so hard; I think it's natural for a small island to be this way. I do understand why Mexico is considered very, very foreign here — as I said earlier, "latino" just doesn't really come up much here — which of course totally makes sense, geographically. It's not a bad thing at all; in fact,

That doesn't surprise me at all; I think maybe because this is a really small island, people get a bit obsessed with everyone from anywhere else being quite "exotic".

Yeah, it's always tricky to switch between two "ways of being", and I only have to do it in really minor ways where not much is at stake (my family make fun of my "American" accent when it slips out, but often Americans couldn't understand me when I was being full-on English).

Did you and I talk about this topic a little while ago? (Sorry if I'm misremembering.) I'm having the slightly weird experience of my marriage being considered "mixed race" in his country and and not in mine, because "latino" just doesn't really come up much in the UK, where we now live, other than vague ideas that my

Me too! It was a something of a surprise. I really want a bagel with tons of cream cheese and some apricot jam right now.
