Yeah..0 absolutely impressed me with how it was able to balance its gritty and serious crime drama, with the more goofy nature of the JRPG.
I think that’s a large reason why FFXIV is widely considered the best Final Fantasy in a long time, largely because it mostly disposes with alot of the edgey 13 year-old grim dark posturing, and goes back to the sincerity found in earlier Final Fantasy games.
The problem with a lot of FF—and I’d argue this was a thing starting with Kingdom Hearts/Advent Children is that these things were first and foremost solely concerned with “the rule of cool,” but instead of doing the legwork to make, any of it matter beyond “shit looks cool,” it just settles on having characters yell…
