You are absolutely right that its a disaster movie. They didn’t so much begin with ID4 so much as returned in a big way. They were huge in the 70s with Towering Inferno, the Airport movies, the Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, and I could seriously go on...

I have trouble seeing what needs shading in about her backstory. The years of cruelty, oppression and sexual slavery? 

The thing about “Tonight You Belong to Me”, it’s just so fucking sublime, tender beautiful and then they pause for Bernadette to pick up her trumpet and when she plays its so goddamn funny and beautiful at the same time. Its just delightful.
