Great writeup! I’ve been watching for a few weeks—it’s enthralling. I’ve often wondered about the authenticity, but sort of left it there (I don’t read Reddit and haven’t been on any witch hunts).

Dear god, how many hours have you put in? After discovering you get significantly more xp for story quests, I’ve been doing those, have since found my mater (hehe) and am near the end of the game I think. Level 32 after 32 hours or so... Bought the xp booster at level 11.
The biggest disappointment about the PS Classic is that it seems to ignore what Sony has done so well with backwards compatibility on PS2, PS3 (original model), PS Vita, and PSTV where you can buy a PS1 game one time and play them on all those devices... and probably on the PS5 when that drops. It’s part of the reason…
Couldn’t agree with you more about the combat in ACO. It’s extremely... mediocre. I absolutely loved Shadow of Mordor (bringing it up because it’s Ubisoft and open world), but I can’t remember the details of it to know how much ACO differs. I think it was just tighter? ACO feels quite slippery and I don’t think it’s…
I certainly do have time to game, because I make time. As a completionist though, I want to play all the games. Having just spent 73 hours in DQ11, I missed out on Spider Man. Since I’m playing ACO, I’m missing out on RDR2. I just want to play them all. =[ FOMO maybe?
You might be right. The age of information has spoiled me.
This is fascinating, thanks for writing it! I’m playing ACO because it was free through Google Project Stream. I’ve been on the fence about getting RDR2, because I bounced off of the first one pretty hard for the reasons you described above... it was slow and prodding.
You know Odyssey asks you up front how you want to play the game? There are two options iirc, Exploration mode, and Guided mode. I imagine exploration mode might play more like BOTW and RDR2. I chose Guided though, because unlike you, I don’t have enough time or patience to “figure shit out”. Same reason I can’t…
This is really ut, I mean de ef and un le like I’ve never seen.
Is it a thing now to tell someone to you miss you? I read that sentence 17 times to comprehend what you were saying, and maybe I still got it wrong.
How many dollars worth of Sony Rewards has he earned, I wonder?
Made me cry as well, but it certainly wasn’t the only game... Brothers A Tale of Two Sons and To The Moon were both awesome and had a similar, but probably greater effect on me.
Valiant Hearts was so amazing. Worth any price they put on it (with reason of course).
The saddest thing in all of this is that the Vita had everything necessary to be the Switch (I mean I guess except Mario, Zelda), but Sony completely failed to put the pieces together.
✓ portable (the best I’ve ever played)
✓ console (PS TV, no reason a future Vita SKU couldn’t have HDMI out)
✓ external controller support
I played God Of War multiple times on my Vita via remote play sitting in the floor of the rec. center while my daughter was doing gymnastics. It works surprisingly well over 4G in my area.
I disagree with a lot of what you said, except the FFXV bit... waste of potential sums it up entirely.
So you haven’t played Type-0?
Don’t forget about this latest gem...
