The author makes a reference to “[A]ngry parents and their medium-well kids” to introduce a quote from a mom whose toddler experienced a “horrible sunburn.” There is nothing “medium-well” about a toddler’s skin being charred by the sun to the point of blistering, pussing, and peeling. That is a second or third degree

“Angry parents with their medium-well kids...” to introduce a quote by a parent about how her toddler experienced a “horrible sunburn” is the author implying that a sunburnt kid isn’t that big a deal.

Isn’t this article actually mocking the efficacy (or lack thereof) of a celeb’s hippie product line? Maybe with a little HA-HA thrown in for the parents obsessed with ‘natural’ products enough to trust a company primarily based on its name and self-reported mission statement?

Did I read a different article than you did? The one I read was making fun of the company and their shitty sunscreen.

Donate them. Women’s shelters are always in need of baby stuff.

Did anybody go look at that random guy’s twitter page?

I don’t know if it’s chemophobia as much as white-o-phobia. If people would just get over their aversion to zinc, which is perfectly safe, then they’re not going to burn. Period! Bring back Zinca! from the 80’s and everyone can have a blue smurf nose, too!

Um, hello. Organic unicorn farts, and free-range angel tears.

Give me all the chemicals! I don't want to burn.

unicorn farts, angel tears, and positive thinking

Well, that’s not totally fair. Zinc/titanium oxide sunscreens are often better at preventing burns than avobenzone/oxybenzone sunscreens.

As a dude who shaves his head, my heart goes out to the guy with the burned chrome dome. Coppertone Sport Spray #30 spf 4eva!

Same could be said for uranium :)

The white means it’s working, dummies! I’m a swimmer, and I use a physical sunblock with titanium dioxide/zinc oxide on my face and shoulders because it’s the only thing that prevents me from burning when I’m swimming for an hour+. With those sunscreens, you don’t want to use so little or rub it in so much that you

I used Alba’s sunscreen and I got a sunburn.

My biggest issue with this is the lady that started her tweet with “no offense”. Like, first of all, you are condemning this product so you do definitely mean some offense. And I also hate people who use “no offense” as a way to say super offensive things and be indemnified against the super offensive things they’re

This is particularly funny because, even by the standards of the “chemicals are scary” crowd, there’s nothing terribly “artificial” about zinc oxide. Zinc is a mineral, it's mined out of the ground, either as metallic zinc or as a component of various ores. You heat it up until it vaporizes, and it reacts with oxygen

As someone who gets pink in about 15 mins of sun, this would make me FURIOUS

It’s almost like the active ingredients actively do something! It’s almost like Banana Boat isn’t trying to poison your children.
