Wow. It’s called “enthusiastic consent,” it’s been standard in feminist and sex positive circles for years, and if you have a problem with that/are worrying about a slippery slope, you probably have some vested interest in being able to coerce/pressure people into things they do not want to do.

So many things can happen to you in this situation, you can be stunned, you can freeze up (v common- I do this,) you can try and pretend what is happening is ok, you can be worn down by resistance, you can be scared of saying no/trying to leave- these are all common responses, often decided subconsciously. I don’t

He is a man, that’s a big source of privilege and authority over a woman. This is basic 101 feminism

She did tell him. Multiple times. There is no “some point” but nice victim blaming

I read it and genuinely paused to try and think who DJ Coolly is. Then I thought if that’s their name, why would they spell it like that? I would think DJ Kool E, or DJ Kooli would be more fashionable. :/

His acting technique is literally the same as Joey from Friends.

This comment isn’t even necessary. #notallmen is not news.

Would I be able to cope?

I wasn’t really excited about Call Me By Your Name (upper class white dude romance) but it ended up being my one of my favourite films of the year. It still has its flaws but I found it intoxicating and it’s stayed with me. This could also be amazing, if I can cope with a woman being executed (big if!)

Is it super upsetting? I have a thing about executions in ye olden times, esp women. I think it’s a mix of bizarre execution styles, less scientific evidence, draconian laws, reading Great Expectations as a kid, and growing up in a town where a woman was burned for being a witch and a maid boiled alive for murder.

I go into frozen mode as a protection when sexually/physically assaulted, also like you, from conditioning of previous sexual assaults. It makes sense in a “survivor” sense, you just want to survive the antagonistic situation in the quickest, least violent way possible. I used to be mad at myself for years for

yeah, that was pretty much the only actual problem

nooooo why did I tempt the fates?

That article is amazing.

THANK YOU

What about Cena?!?!

This is every successful working class libertarian ever. They have some delusion that no luck was involved and if you’re not rich, it’s just because you haven’t worked hard enough. Also, they’re completely blind to any privilege they have because they weren’t privileged in other ways.

It just sounds like internalised misogyny, and if you read the article, misogynoir. Maybe you should examine why you hate an aesthetic so much? And also think, just because it represents something negative to you, doesn’t mean it’s not empowering and expressive for other women.

Wow, that is some bullshit.
