In an open political systems with parties, you can openly state your goals and your opposition to other political parties or people. In a dictatorship, functional or otherwise, you can’t, but this still happens via cloak and dagger style maneuvering within the party.

Agree with what you said, also the the vote card you get when you get to a voting station has about 40-70 additional things to vote on - your senators, reps, city council, judges, measures, etc. All also very important, and in a way, more important to your daily life where you live then potentially who the President…

I grok what you’re saying. Advance Wars was similar, in my mind. A little hard to reconcile War, the Very Worst Thing Humans Have Ever Done, and ‘fun’/cute aesthetic. Then again, we have playing games involving and fetishizing war since we were children. It’s complex.
