I love the Z, but I haven’t see a 400 yet in person, and they have been out for how long?

I’ve never seen one of the new Z’s outside of a Cars and Coffee, and not even there the last few weekends. If you could truly get one for $40k, I’m sure that wouldn’t be the case. Nissan is really in no position to price its models out of consumer’s budgets, but that’s exactly what seems to be happening with this car.
I’m still in shock that this costs $66k..... before markups.... and people are still going to stupidly buy them? Why would anyone drop that kind of cash when there’s a ton of faster cheaper cars out there for that price?
With dealer markups on “normal” Z cars being between $10,000 to $20,000 in some cases, this NISMO will join its brother in being bolted to showroom floors. I can’t shake the feeling that Nissan either wants this car to fail just so they can go back to cranking out Rogues and Kicks to buyers who don’t care, or is…
My experience with a Model 3 on a work trip showed that the best case for a trip home nearly doubled my travel time and an additional night in a hotel away from home.
Additionally, I’d be interested in the long term impact of strip-mining the planet for precious metals versus maintaining existing oil wells/production.
Well, BEV yeah. I think there needs to be more consideration for other kinds of EV like hydrogen. The energy density in even the most advanced battery is a non-starter to take on the energy demands of human transportation.
We need to be pushing on all kinds of alternative approaches, including more efficient petrol…
Its a complex question. There are a lot of categories where EVs are clearly better, and with the right use case, they are fantastic. There are also a few major categories where they just can’t compete yet. Charge time, towing range, and charging for those without home chargers are definitely big ones
Especially for cross-country road trips. Electric cars are terrible for any driving over 200 to 300 miles. So, yes, EV’s will solve large city car/commuter problems, but they are not an absolute solution for all vehicles.
Superior technologies don’t need bans on their predecessors to succeed. On a number of levels, even beyond infrastructure, gasoline-powered cars are still better. Until BEVs can charge in the ~2 minutes it takes to fill up a gas tank, they will be at a competitive disadvantage, as everyone doesn’t live in buildings…
There are various numbers out there but based on a few articles about a third of Americans live in multi family housing, so I certainty would not call charging for apartment dwellers a minor problem. It’s probably the second largest impediment to widespread EV adoption behind cost.
The F-35 is coming in later than we want and more expensively than we want and does things no other aircraft can do (so far). Which is very, very complicated. The F-35B model is the best STOVL aircraft ever made. It’s been in service for 8 years now and is put together just fine. This has been a public service…
Las Vegas Motor Speedway has an area called the “Drag Strip Paddock”, which is advertized on their site. But Elizabeth would like F1 to cater to the hyper-sensitive morons, because that’s progress I guess.
F1 probably could have come up with a different name than “paddock” for the garage area
“In motorsport — and primarily within European motorsport circles — a paddock is the name given to the garage area, where teams park their transporters and prepare their race cars. In America, we’re more likely to just call it a garage.”
This is false. Anyone who frequents racing in the US would know this is common…
“...the locals think F1 has named that permanent building after mass shooter Stephen Paddock”
It’s always the paddock. I attended the Vancouver Molson Indy every year it was held. Every year I had a paddock pass. It just is what it is.
Yeah. This honestly sounds like ignorance on the locals’ part of the English language rather than a failure on the part of F1.

A paddock is a paddock is a paddock. This is one of those deals where they need to educate the locals. Perhaps reinvest some of the money they’ve been trying to soak out of the locals back into the community.
