I know Depp’s people thought this was a good PR move, but it just makes him look like a 55 year old idiot man-child. Kind of telling that the whole thing is “me, me, me” and then he ends with “I’m doing this for my kids.” Riiiiight.

Don’t forget the typewriter bullshit. He’s roughly two decades too old for this crap and it would have been insufferable two decades ago too.
I’m afraid that just isn’t accurate. It was very clear at the time that the film was about a trans-man. If you presumed otherwise just from seeing who was cast, that’s cool, but the advertising, Oscar push, and everything around that was very focused on the fact that Hilary Swank was playing a trans character.
Yeah I’m not sure it helps Hardwick’s case that the only women sticking up for him is his wife, whose mother is like the patron saint of Stockholm Syndrome.
“The Pirates of the Caribbean star said he decided to start writing a memoir on an old typewriter to cope with his post-divorce depression as he toured with his band, Hollywood Vampires.
From what I understand, Brandon had not done any hormone treatment. Trans men that are pre-hormones, or elect to not take hormones live with more vulnerability. The more androgynous your features, like Swank, the more you can read ‘male’, but there is still a fragility to those that, like Brandon, are living ‘stealth’.…
I think the idea was for the actor playing the role to resemble Teena. Hilary Swank did an astounding job and I think the role could have been played by either a trans man or a cis woman, but not by a cis man.
they showed him as a adolescent young woman first, coming through the revelation that he was in fact trans, so it needed to be played by a woman.
Um, okay, I mean, fuck Roseanne Barr and all that, but - Justin Theroux and Emma freaking Stone? You can do better, Emma. In fact, you have done better in the past already. I don’t trust Theroux any farther than I can throw him.
please do it
The whole situation is petty, but....
Kim’s tirade is boring to me and I’m over the Kardashians a long time but that last tweet in the series is some nice shade.
I’m speaking from 20/20 hindsight but I feel like at the point that Walter was in tears, the Netflix reps should have ended the interview early. A critic (can’t find who) noted that when they interviewed the cast there were more Netflix reps than there would normally be, they were wary about the potential for this…
I guess alone forever it is.
I have BPD.
Man, you are mean as hell. BPD is one of the most common mood disorders out there. It affects 1.6% of the population. You probably know lots of people with it that don’t fit into your bigoted stereotypes.
It’s not brushing off someones disorder to say it shouldn’t be stigmatized, but we shouldn’t say that someone with said disorder can’t be allowed to do something because of it. A lot of people may not be getting treatment because they don’t even know what BPD is and we can not generalize to say that the majority of…
Pete Davidson doesn’t say his life is great - he consistently talks about his struggles with mental illness and says his life has gotten better since he started getting treatment. As someone with a family member who has BPD who won’t get treatment at all because they are firmly convinced that their life cannot get…
That’s one way of looking at it. But others may find inspiration in someone saying, “I’m like you and I work on getting better. You can too. I support you.”
I mean good for him to actually respond like that the idea of people with mental illnesses/disorders or what have you can’t be in relationships is super toxic. It leads to people being too afraid to not only tell their SO about their problem, but to be afraid to even see a doctor for it.
