Not having a librarian in the mix of this article was a huge oversight. Librarians routinely purge books (“weeding” is the professional jargon) as a part of their job. If they’re a “books” kind of librarian anyway (meaning, not me).

I want to tell some of my minimalist friends that, “Hey, your only hobby is Netflix,” when they chime in about my stuff.
If you have hobbies, like REAL hobbies, beyond saying “I’m a foodie” then you have to own stuff. If you like to work on your car, your motorcycle, your bicycles, and still keep up with your painting…
Well see, that’s why it doesn’t work for you. When you’re bottling up near-rage it doesn’t create enough pressure to cook anything well.
Also misunderstood is IP law (which is one of the reasons Disney goes after people).
Ah yes...The Theramos.
This. And even using copyrighted material in an educational context isn’t automatically fair use, either. Fair use is an exception to copyright infringement, meaning your use of the material is infringing another’s copyright, and if fair use applies, you aren’t liable for the infringement. That’s dangerous ground,…
that you can get away with it, shouldn’t be your standard for doing something illegal.
also, you never know how a rights holder will react, and what liability you expose yourself to by going yolo with copyright violation
Perry here. You’re absolutely right that a new person coming into a fitness class for the first time may not understand that they’re not doing something correctly, or that they’ve been TOLD to do something incorrectly. That’s one reason I recommend trying several different instructors for the same format, if possible!
I think you need some counseling. I’m very worried about you (whoever you are) based on this comment.
My wife has epilepsy.
So last January her doctor was like “(shrug) maybe try the Ketogenic diet?”
An off-handed suggestion, not a prescription.
So she tried it.
She felt great, lots of lamb fat and nuts. She felt strong.
But kept having seizures. In fact, they went from 8-12 a month up to 20-24 a month.
Then, on May 11, she…
I’m not saying thin privilege isn’t real, I’m saying is insane to say an eating disorder is in any way a lifestyle to aspire to. As I mentioned in the second half of my reply, it’s apparent you’re unhappy, but your writing screams that the problem isn’t primarialy your weight, but that you sound bitterly depressed.…
As an eating disorder treatment specialist, I think you have the order of operations backwards. Yes, diet restriction can cause food obsession, that’s been known since the Minnesota Starvation Experiment at the end of WW2. The fact that one believes one must disrupt their food intake to correct for appearance issues…
When I get to that point, (where I DREAD picking up the book), wikipedia. I wikipedia the plot, learn what happened to everyone and move on. It’s also kept me a couple of times from investing time into series of books I KNOW I would get slogged down in. (Looking at you, Game of Thrones)
As I’m 55 now, I’m going to adopt this wholeheartedly. :)
No kidding, the first 3 Outlander novels were such a whirlwind that 4 and 5 were real slogs in comparison. Fiery Cross almost did me in.
They’ll also play on the family of immigrants in their home countries. I knew a graduate student from China whose parents were scammed. She was studying in the US and her parents were in China. The scammers told the parents that she was seriously injured and at the hospital and that they needed payment immediately to…
That doesn’t just apply to supplements: Foods can cause interactions as well and simple antibiotics can cause yeast infections for many women, etc.
If you think that is normal, you need better taste in girlfriends.
Absolutely fantastic alarm clock. It really does make a huge difference to be lulled out of sleep by the simulated sunrise, especially in the winter.

This is the approach I’m taking this year. As a couch potato that was only sporadically hitting the gym (Maybe once every month. Maybe.) I’m not diving into the “Every Other Day” schedule I tried to get into last year. I’m keeping it simple at one day a week, at least one hour.
