my parents definitely steered me toward more "be an awesome woman because you are powerful and amazing". And I am so glad they did. I used to play power rangers in the backyard, and I always wanted to be batgirl or cat woman.

There is a definitely a double standard out there.

IDK if the girl wants to dress like a princess or a fairy then I say go for it! But if she wants to dress like Darth Vader then I say go for that too! I guess its up to everyone else to stop making the little girl not dressed up like the fairy or the princess not feel just as special.

IMO one should just have a conservative outfit handy. In case of funerals, having to go to christmas mass with grandma, a job interview and so on.

Now, now, we all know its NEVER the husband/father's fault.

I have to come to @mouthmouth's defense here. There are absolutely women out there that DON'T CARE if the man is married or in a relationship. I believe the comment mouthmouth made was directed towards those people.
