Agreed, and universities often steer survivors towards using their own disciplinary system rather than the criminal justice system, so they can try and keep the rape under wraps.

Google says “no results found.” Has she been scrubbed from the internet? Or am I doomed because I’m too scared to turn off safe search?
Brock Turner is scum, but I’m not really that into cismen with arms and aggro signs protesting on women’s behalf, like they are my guardian and exempt from rape culture.
I agree, except I wouldn’t really call these guys “progressives.”
I was camping. My aunt came from the bathroom in tears, where the other campers had been crying. We couldn’t believe it, so my uncle went and bought a paper at the gas station to confirm the tragedy.
I enjoyed that Buzzfeed article, though it reminded me that for all we critique the social construction of gender, I don’t know anyone who is actually raising their kid as non-binary until the child chooses their own gender expression. I remember the Canadian parents in 2011 who chose not to reveal their kid’s sex,…
I have my first baby on the way, and didn’t find out the sex, and some people are really troubled not knowing if my fetus has a penis or a vagina. “How can you not know?” they cry. Or, “What are you calling the baby, it?” I imagine such gendered clothes will reassure these people who are troubled by any ambiguity.
I used to read and occasionally comment on Kotaku in 2005-2007 or so, and I was eventually scared off. But I hear nowadays that Kotaku has been “ruined” by SJWs, so maybe it is time for me to return!
Maybe we are getting all the sub-blogs to follow us on blogs that already follow us? I was already followed by Jezebel and io9, and I got Pictorial/Muse/Slot/That’sWhatSheSaid and Gizmodo/Paleofuture/Toyland/Sploid.
We are really lucky to be getting Melissa McCarthy back for Gilmore Girls.
Why would anyone dump Sarah Connor for Rose’s granddaughter?
It may be hard for some omnivores to understand the “consent” aspect of veganism. Being vegan (for most) isn’t about purity, but reducing ones harm to others. We consent to feed human milk to human children (after all, mammals produce milk to feed their own young, nothing non-vegan about that!). And assuming both…
That is cool you took a class from Robert Putnam! I share some of his skepticism coming from my time as a feminist blogger, when I was also doing offline activism and felt a really big disconnect between the two. But I also grew up on the internet so I know it is a legit community. Fandom as a gift economies might…
What is up with professors who don’t believe in anything internet? I started a feminist gaming blog on 2005 (there was hardly such a thing back then) as my feminist praxis project and my teacher only gave me a B. I kept up the blog for years too.
I mentioned Jezebel in my PhD exams, also about 5 years ago!
Congrats on getting pregnant! I’m also pregnant with my first baby (26 weeks? I lose track.) and can’t help but click articles like this. I feel the normal outrage on behalf of Malatesta and women everywhere who have been mistreated during birth. But these stories don’t really make me scared of my own delivery. There…
I’m lucky because I get to teach “Intro to Humanities” on any topic I want and the students self-select what topic they want out of all the sections. Most the students are pretty cool. Though my other section recently was on Mr. Robot and someone complained there was too much feminism “snuck in” by the teacher.
And the kids today still love Alanna! I teach Alanna: the First Adventure in my “warrior women” class for college freshman.
I’ve been vegan since 2002 (well, I’m technically ovo-vegetarian nowadays since I have pet chickens and they lay the eggs anyways) and got some concern-trolling back in the day, when I was a teen baby-vegan, but the “concerned” comments let off once I was an adult and my pre-vegan health problems subsided. It helps…
Breastmilk is vegan.
