It’s not an average of 10Mph over time... since he spends more time going against the current, and less time with the advantage of the current, it will be less than 10.

Going back and forth actually does not average things out. Consider the boundary case where the current is as fast as a swimmer... the swimmer on the edge will not move at all, while the swimmer in the middle will actually complete the race.

But the last thing we need now is yet another communication app... I already am required to install about 5 of them... and they interfere with one another, locking my microphone etc. (I’m looking at you, Desktop Skype!)

Hangouts, by its very design, sucks at being a 1 to 1 calling app... the concepts of “rooms” and joining and leaving them, half the time it never “ringing” you, etc. The default view being past hangouts (rooms) that you can re-join... urgh. I hate it...
