Hey Drew. You’re the best, and good luck with the brain and everything.
Hey Drew. You’re the best, and good luck with the brain and everything.
no booze is fine, you are right. What is not fine is making people wear heels and then pay for booze. That is rude
You’re never going to remember the floral arrangements, hors d-oeuvres, or music. But if they make you pay for drinks at their wedding, you’re going to carry that with you until the day you die.
Also, re the “one good day”, he literally planned his attendance at Game 5 purely because he thought (or his handlers thought) that the death of “the world’s most wanted terrorist” would insulate him from said booing. The idea that people should pander to that cynicism is abhorrent, anti-democratic and frankly…
You guys are awesome. It is not hyperbole to say that this site often gets me through the day. Keep up the good work, and for the love of god do not stick to sports.
I’ve always maintained an open bar is a basic aspect of the social compact -- by definition, at least half of the people at your wedding do not want to be there, and I’d say at least 25% don’t know who you are. But they put on a tie/dress, so you get them drunk for free. That’s pretty basic social politeness.
Your grandfather was correct. And most athletes have Very Fancy weddings because they are rich, you are correct.
The only real point of drama in our wedding planning was my parents’ insistence that we have an open bar. Why? “Because Grandpa expects it and he’ll be pissed otherwise.” I give them a lot of grief for the things they choose to put their foot down on, but they were absolutely right about this.
(while I’m making rules, if you’re requiring people to wear heels you want to continue to participate in society without being branded as a pariah, you are not allowed to have a cash bar)
If Deadspin sticks to sports, I’m leaving. I know I have no clout here, but I can get sports news and content anywhere. I come here (first and most often when I’m on the internet) because it’s more than sports. This includes wedding dress codes, pumpkin stealing, Canadian Horton’s poopers, stories about injuries, and…
Isn’t it the opposite? The artist made it as a celebration of American resilience after the stock market recovery following the crash in the 80s. He’s said so in numerous interviews, and more recently is pissed that the bull is now being cast as a bad guy
Well said!
The last time UConn has the #1 recruiting class was 2012, and none of those players are on this team. They recruit very well (obviously) but the idea that their success is simply due to always having the best recruits year in and year out is simply not true.
Here’s the thing, though. It’s not that the contents of the document are verified (news agencies are saying that they are not), it’s that officials at high levels government are passing it around to each other. THAT make it worth reporting. As long as (and admittedly I did not read the Buzzfeed article yet, but I’m…
When a powerful U.S. Senator is delivering copies of Pizzagate conspiracy theory manifestos to the director of the FBI, this equivalence will become valid.
This was amazing. Thank you for writing!
