Yeah, I think I've gotta do it - it'll make reading the new one a lot richer of an experience if I'm not constantly trying to remember what chulls are and who is related to who. I'm looking forward to more Shattered Plains stuff - thought that was some great, evocative world building

Yup, based on a book - a (planned) trilogy, what else? It's not bad but it definitely reads like Hunger Games lite.

Understood, and thanks for the details! Part of my love for Saga is definitely because I'm a huge sci-fi fan, but the other comics I do read are pretty varied (Fatale, Northlanders, the new Conan series), so I'm open to expanding my horizons as it were.

I have to agree with both of you - this was a wonderful review and I'm looking forward to reading this one.

I'm super pumped for the new Saga! I'm not a big comics reader but I'll have to check out The Manhattan Projects if it's at that level of awesomeness

Sharp and mean is a great descriptor of Mantel's work - I'd also recommend Beyond Black of her contemporary novels, sharp and mean plus and an added dose of weird.

I'm glad to hear it's good! I've got it on hold at the library - might take the time to re-read The Way of Kings, I can remember enjoying it a lot but the details of plot and character are a little hazy…
