wasn’t there an episode about spontaneous combustion once? It was that or one of the other similar shows that my mom and I watched when I was a kid... anyway it has always haunted me.

Ditto
That Lifetime movie is forever burned into my psyche.
Bobby, it’s for articles like this that I love you. You make my life so much happier! Our pop culture interests align enough that you are currently the only person on the whole interwebs that I trust implicitly with reviews and commentary. I am also fascinated by key changes, and tend to yell out “key change!” -…
I often wonder how much of my adult paranoia and anxiety are due to watching those shows as a kid...
Yeah... during my “childhood” yup. I’m definitely a big girl now and didn’t get freaked the fuck out by it within the last month. Nope.
Rescue 911 was like our family TV bonding time.
So... I may have binged all three available seasons over the last couple weeks (#noregrets) and I have a few thoughts:
Sometimes I wonder what the everloving FUCK my parents were thinking letting me watch shows like Unsolved Mystery and Rescue 911. Hello, anxiety. I also recall a Lifetime movie where a victim of domestic violence (played by Jo from Facts of Life) gets stabbed/her neck stomped on by her psychotic ex. I think that’s why…
I was younger during that time period, but I completely agree with this statement.
Unsolved Mysteries had me absolutely convinced as a kid that I was going to be a victim of alien abduction.
Holy crap I’m delighted to learn other people that age watched 20/20. My parents thought it was a strange habit.
Holy shit! I forgot ALL about Rescue 911, I loved that show!
The Unsolved Mysteries theme song is responsible for many sleepless nights during my childhood.
Omg I LOVED Rescue 911. Yes, please bring that back.
Now just add “Rescue 911" and “20/20" and my Friday nights from age 11-15 can be complete.
That you attended college—“less than 5 years ago”--doesn’t make your argument sound, or your understanding of sexuality well-informed.
No one is stopping sex education from being the priority. But if a woman is raped by an acquaintance or is passed around some night, and she doesn’t want the shit show of reporting it, she should have options. And she shouldn’t have to explain this to you or anyone else.
People in college are already promiscuous as it is.
You put it indelicately (and got into problematic territory) which makes it seem like you’re going the “loose women out there getting pregnant without consequences” route, and on this site you’re going to catch a ton of flak for that... but I see what you’re trying to say (I think).
