It’s one of my favorite scenes of all time! The way she pulls herself back together and gets on with it is so heartbreaking.

That scene where Emma Thompson goes to her room to compose herself is the most well-acted, heartbreaking scene in the entire movie.

This is one of the most meaningful meditations on loss I’ve encountered, and I’ll take it to heart the next time I lose someone; thanks for sharing it with us.

I don’t think anyone is ever properly equipped to handle grief. People just draw upon their own strengths to cope and get through. Having friends and family support can certainly help.

I’ve always thought that teaching as a trans person would suck, not because of the students, but because of literally everyone else. I can only imagine the cavalcade of jackasses who would feel like they need to make your life hard, “for the children”.

I work in higher ed and used to be at a university that was often listed on the Campus Pride Index and had a reputation for being very supportive of LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff. While it hadn’t been implemented institution-wide, many departments had people include their preferred pronouns during introductions…
